Our History...

Central Programs, Inc. began in 1975 as a small door-to-door encyclopedia sales operation in Bethany, MO. Our office operated out of a small house with the building next door serving as the warehouse.

In 1978, Gumdrop BooksTM, a division of Central Programs, Inc., evolved as a remainder business to serve schools and libraries. Our business grew quickly and we needed more space for our staff and products. We moved into a three story building in downtown Bethany. A small bookstore was located on the 1st floor.

Our market scope continued to change. Our door-to-door encyclopedia business faded out. The school and library sales business flourished and our focus changed from offering remainders to current copyrights. After years of double-digit growth and continuous expansion, we found ourselves in several different offices and warehouse spaces. A more efficient system to operate was needed. In 2002, the company had an opportunity to purchase a very large building that would accommodate all the warehouses, office and personnel.

Today, we continue to reside in our recently purchased warehouse and office building which has 160,000 square feet and is filled with state of the art equipment that we believe enables us to improve upon our famous Exceptional Service, Unconditionally Guaranteed.
